Compassion in Action

 MERCY Mentorship Center Project

Why Syracuse Needs the MERCY Mentorship Center

Syracuse is grappling with a heartbreaking reality: it has one of the highest child poverty rates in the United States. According to recent statistics, more than 45% of children in Syracuse live below the poverty line. This crisis limits opportunities, diminishes dreams, and perpetuates cycles of poverty.

The MERCY Mentorship Center is our city’s opportunity to change this narrative. By creating a safe, enriching space for our youth, we can help them break free from the barriers of poverty and build brighter futures.

A Vision for Change: After-School Programs and Mentorship
Children need more than just a classroom; they need a community. MERCY will offer:

  • After-School Programs: Providing academic support, creative outlets, and safe spaces for children to learn, grow, and thrive.
  • Mentorship Opportunities: Pairing students with compassionate mentors who guide them toward success, teaching life skills, and building self-confidence.
  • Support Networks for Families: Offering resources that uplift entire households, creating stability and fostering hope.

With the right support, every child can overcome challenges and discover their potential. MERCY is committed to making that happen.
